Dental discount plans (or "reduced fee plans") and dental insurance are not the same.

Dental discount plans like those at Blue Cross Blue Shield of Georgia and DentalPlans.com are based on special agreements with participating dental care providers (like dentists) to provide their services to plan members at a (sometimes very substantial) discount.

Unlike most dental insurance plans, reduced fee plans often even give you a discounted rate for dental care associated with "pre-existing conditions", although orthodontic treatment in progress is typically excluded. (NOTE: Always check the terms and conditions of each specific plan to see what is and isn't covered!)

Dental insurance Plans like those at DENTALINSURANCE.COM can protect you against the financial risks associated with dental care. Unlike many dental discount plans or reduced fee plans, dental insurance will typically NOT reimburse you for costs associated with existing dental problems (so-called "pre-existing conditions"). There may also be a limit on the number of visits or services for which you will be reimbursed, and you may have to pay part of the costs out of your own pocket (the "deductible").

However, having good dental policy can save you quite a few unpleasant surprises --and a lot of money! (NOTE: Always check the terms and conditions in the insurance policy to see what is and isn't covered by that insurance!)

As an added service to our current and future clients, we have compiled a list of common questions regarding your dental health. This list is important to both children and adults. Click here to view this list.
